FOR TOWNSHIP ASSOCIATION MEETING
MARCH 28, 2026, AT 9:00 A.M.
1. The local board of appeal and equalization schedule has been updated for 2026, with meetings beginning April 13, 2026. Those of you who hold your own meeting, please ensure you not only have a quorum present but also at least one trained member, to ensure you do not lose the right to hold the meeting.
For example, your trained member is unable to attend this year’s meeting or in you do not have a quorum present, the County will take over the meeting at your meeting place. The County then holds the meeting again in 2027 either in Pine City or Sandstone using the open book format. If you wish to hold your meeting again in 2028, a resolution needs to be filed with the Assessor’s office prior to February 1, 2028.
The training closed for the 2026 meetings on February 1, 2026. Any on-line training that is taken at this point will be effective beginning with the 2027 meetings. This information has been forwarded to your clerk. If you have someone wishing to take the training, please reach out to your clerk, or let me know and I will provide you with the link to the Department of Revenue site.
2. The 2026 tax statements and the 2027 valuation notices were being mailed out by March 27, 2026, so you should be receiving them shortly. We once again saw increases, particularly in the land sales, throughout the county. If you are contacted by a property owner as to their value or classification, please ask them to contact our office so that we may have them speak to the appraiser for your township. The Assessor’s main line is (320) 591-1632.
3. Thank you for your time this morning. If you have any questions, please give me a call (320) 591-1634 (direct line) or reach out by e-mail
